Sometimes life gets in the way of our social media goals. You’ve probably had those moments where you’re typing away on your phone, but then something comes up, and you’re forced to abandon the mission. Or maybe you’re in a hurry to post something quickly before leaving for work, but your internet disconnects mid-post.

How to Find Facebook Drafts

Losing your drafts can be quite frustrating, especially if it happens when you’re almost done typing. It can be difficult trying to retrace your line of thoughts and start over.

The good news is that there’s a way to save drafts on Facebook so that they don’t get lost. But where are these drafts stored, and how can you find them?

How to Find Facebook Drafts on a PC

(a) Facebook Page

Here’s how to find drafts for your Facebook page when using a PC:

  1. Sign in to your Facebook account.

  2. Click on “Pages” in the navigation menu on the left side of your screen. This should open a list of all the pages you manage.

  3. Select the page whose drafts you’d like to find.

  4. Once the page opens, select “Publishing Tools” from the navigation menu on the left side of your screen.

  5. Click on “Drafts.” At this point, you should see a list of all your drafts.

  6. Click on a draft to open it. If the draft is too long, you’ll only see a preview.

  7. You can now edit the draft as you wish or publish it right away. You can also schedule automatic updates.

  8. If you still want to save the draft even after editing,

    • Click on the button appearing under “News Feed” and then click on the “Share Now” button.

    • Click on “Save.” This changes the “Share Now” button to “Save as draft.”

    • Click on “Save as Draft.”

(b) Personal Profile

The Facebook desktop app is the perfect desktop experience. You get everything you need to stay connected while working, shopping, or traveling. On the Facebook home screen, you can quickly post updates about what you’re doing and what you’re thinking about using one of three different status types: Status Update, Photo/Video, and Link Post. The sidebar on the left contains your News Feed, so scrolling through all your updates is just a click away.

For all its positives, the Facebook desktop app fails terribly when it comes to draft management. For one, it doesn’t allow you to save drafts when on profile mode. Your draft only is only retrievable if you don’t close or refresh the app.

Browsers don’t help either. For example, if you terminate drafting a post on Chrome, you lose the draft as soon as you refresh the page. Your post can’t be retrieved.

How to Find Facebook Drafts on Android

a) Facebook Page

The Facebook app for devices running on the Android operating system supports the management of Facebook pages. If you’re forced to abandon creating a post before hitting the “Publish” button, you can still find the draft and post it or edit it further.

Here’s how you can find a draft on a Facebook page when using an Android phone:

  1. Launch the app and enter your credentials to sign in.

  2. Tap on the three horizontal lines in the top right corner.

  3. Tap on “Pages.” This should open a list of all the pages under your management. Then select the page whose drafts you’d like to find. If you can’t see the drafts under the settings menu, after the new update.

  4. Download and open the Facebook Business Suite (Pages Manager) app.

  5. Tap on the Posts & Stories icon at the bottom of the screen and then tap on the arrow drop down next to the Published, select “Drafts.” At this point, you should see a list of all the drafts you’ve saved.

  6. To post or delete a draft, tap on the three vertical dots.

(b) Personal Profile

There are several things to love about the Facebook app for Android when used for personal accounts. Notably, it differs from the PC version because it allows you to save and view as many drafts as you want. However, there’s a catch: you can only view a draft via a notification sent by Facebook moments after you’ve saved it. If you delete the notification, you can only view all drafts again by creating a new one and saving it.

Let’s see the specific steps to find your personal drafts on an Android device:

  1. Launch the Facebook app.

  2. Tap on the “What’s on your mind” box and create a temporary draft.

  3. Tap the back button and “Save as draft.”

  4. Once the draft is saved, you’ll receive a notification confirming as much.

  5. Tap on the notification.

  6. Tap the back button again. You should now see a list of all your drafts, starting with the most recent one.

You can edit or even post drafts as you see fit. However, it’s important to note that drafts automatically get discarded after three days.

Are Drafts the Same Thing as Unpublished Posts?

The answer is yes. A draft is a post that has been saved in an unpublished state. It’s most commonly used to prepare posts and ensure that they’re ready to go at the right moment.
