How to Get the Recluse in

Posted by   on

“Power creep” is a problem in many video games with newly released content. It usually happens when games introduce new abilities or weapons, leaving older ones underpowered in comparison.

How to Get the Recluse in Destiny 2

However, Destiny 2’s Recluse may be an old weapon, but it can still hold its own. Today, many players still speak highly of it despite having newer weapon options.

Have you wondered how to get this venerable submachine gun for yourself? Thankfully, it’s still available in 2021 through a quest. Keep on reading to find out how to get the Recluse in Destiny 2.

How to Get the Recluse Weapon in Destiny 2

We’ll introduce the weapon’s stats and unique features before we get into how you can get the Recluse for yourself. This way, you’ll understand why the Recluse remains a viable choice for PvP game modes today.

The Recluse Stats and Features

The first thing you’ll likely notice on the Recluse is its Legendary rarity. It’s also a submachine gun, and like many others in this class, boasts a high rate of fire. The Recluse is very lightweight, allowing players to move and shoot swiftly.

This submachine gun can deal Void damage, shooting at a rate of 900 RPM at full auto. Being a primary weapon, you’ll be able to replenish your supplies quickly from kills. Take every opportunity to pick up some ammunition, as the high fire rate and its perks will burn through magazines before you notice.

Here are the Recluse’s stats:

  • 15 Impact

  • 41 Range

  • 52 Stability

  • 67 Handling

  • 35 Reload Speed

  • 36 Rounds in the magazine

  • 13 Zoom

  • 67 Inventory Size

  • 55 Aim Assist

  • 100 Recoil

Next, let’s look at the Recluse’s Perks and what they do:

  • Ricochet Rounds

This Perk allows you to shoot at hard surfaces and use them to deflect rounds. The rounds deal the same damage as before, and you might still hit your target this way. Ricochet Rounds also increases stability and gives a minor range boost.

  • Feeding Frenzy

With Feeding Frenzy, you can reload your weapon quickly. The condition for triggering this Perk is to score a kill. If you keep killing enemies, you can swap magazines rapidly and constantly.

  • Lightweight Frame

The Recluse is a very light weapon that handles like a dream. You can draw, put away, aim down the sights, and move faster without the hindrance of weapon weight.

  • Polygonal Rifling

Polygonal Rifling increases the stability stat. The higher your weapon’s stability, the less recoil you’ll get when firing. This advantage translates into higher accuracy.

  • Master of Arms

The Recluse can already pump out bullets rapidly, but if you kill an enemy, Master of Arms will trigger. This Perk gives you a temporary damage bonus, and couple it with Feeding Frenzy to melt opponents as soon as they appear in your sights.

As you can see, the Recluse’s Perks are all geared towards PvP combat. You can empty magazines, reload quickly, and continue firing, all within a short time. In PvP, where reaction time, damage, and skill are essential, arming yourself with the Recluse will give you an advantage over some players.

The more aggressive you play, the more you can trigger Master of Arms and Feeding Frenzy. Both Perks are what make the Recluse shine, dealing severe damage per second.

In the past, the demand for the Recluse was high due to its attractive stats and Perks.

Unfortunately, with the advent of new weapons, the Recluse has fallen off in popularity. That said, it’s not wise to underestimate older weapons.

Acquiring the Recluse

With the Recluse’s introduction out of the way, we’ll move on to how you can get it. The steps themselves are straightforward. However, it’s the process that many players don’t particularly enjoy.

Here’s how you’ll get the Recluse:

  1. First, visit Lord Shaxx.

  2. By talking to him, you can get the quest named “From the Mouths of Babes.”

  3. Once this quest triggers, start playing in the Crucible.

  4. Keep playing until you get to the “Fabled” Glory rank and win 100 Crucible matches.

  5. When you reach both requirements, you complete “The Stuff of Myth” Triumph.

  6. After lots of grinding, return to Lord Shaxx and speak to him.

  7. He congratulates you and gives you the Recluse.

If you already achieved the Triumph before starting “From the Mouths of Babes,” you only have to restart Destiny 2 for the quest to trigger. Remember to restart after getting the quest, as doing so too early won’t help. If you follow these instructions, you can get the Recluse instantly from Lord Shaxx.

Since you have to work your way up to Fabled and win 100 Crucible matches, we believe you’ll find some advice helpful.

Crucible Advice

The Crucible is an unforgiving place, as most Guardians like yourself are playing to win. Here are some tips to help you get the Recluse easier:

  • Try not to play solo

While playing alone still works for you, you can encounter losing streaks easily and struggle to recover. Find some powerful PvP expert friends to play with, and they’ll help make getting 100 Crucible wins less stressful.

If you don’t know anyone who plays Destiny 2, you can still play in the Crucible. You have to be prepared to experience losing streaks and stagnant growth, though.

  • Stick to friends or clanmates

Competitive Crucible lets your play with friends or your clan. Near Fabled rank, fire teams tend to be pre-made groups of people who know each other, and joining a random team with no communication can be disastrous. At this point, you can also experience horrible losing streaks that can set you back immensely.

  • Invest in powerful Gear

Power level isn’t a factor in the Crucible to make PvP balanced. However, the Gear you equip does make a difference. There are six armor stats you should be aware of that can make a difference in a match:

  1. Recovery for health regeneration speed

  2. Resilience for damage resistance

  3. Mobility for speed and jump height

  4. Intellect for Super cooldown decreases

  5. Strength for shorter melee attack cooldowns

  6. Discipline to lower grenade cooldown

Depending on your build and playstyle, you should upgrade accordingly. Recovery is always welcome, as you have to get back into the fight as soon as possible. As a whole, try to maximize the stats according to your most used ability.

  • Bring your best load-out

If you have some powerful PvP weapons, bring them along as well. You’re here to win, so make sure you don’t set yourself back. If your load-out wipes out the enemy team quickly and efficiently, stick to it.

Keep the current map in mind, as you’ll have to switch load-outs to accommodate it. Catering your weapons to the environment will work wonders.

How to Get the Recluse Ornament in Destiny 2

The Recluse has an Ornament called Itsy-Bitsy Spider. You can get it by decrypting Bright Engrams. There are three ways to get Bright Engrams:

  • Reach max level, which can vary depending on DLC

  • Fill up your XP meter at the level cap

  • Buy silver

However, as the Itsy-Bitsy Spider is a Season 6 Bright Engram drop, it’s currently unavailable.
