How to Add and Access Bookmarks on Safari on iPhone and iPad on iOS 15

Posted by   on

Based on what we’ve seen so far, iOS 15 appears to be the biggest overhaul to happen to iPhone as you should see visual and functional differences across Spotlight, Photos, Weather, Find My, Notifications, and FaceTime. While system updates are known to keep the basic functionality of your iPhone intact, iOS’ native Safari browser is getting a radically designed UI with a whole new set of features.

If you’re one of those who recently jumped ship from iOS 14 to iOS 15 beta, it’s quite likely that you’ve already seen the dramatic changes on the new Safari app. One of the features you may miss from the previous version of Safari is the ability to access your bookmarks which until iOS 14 remained at the bottom.

With the introduction of Tab Bar on iOS 15, the address bar has been moved to the bottom of the Safari app, leaving no space for you to access your bookmarks directly.

In this post, we’ll help understand how you can add and access bookmarks on Safari in iOS 15.

How to Add Bookmarks on Safari

Although opening Safari on iOS 15 might feel a little disorienting at first, the new changes have only been made to improve your browsing experience better. In order to access your bookmarks, you would first need to make sure you’re adding bookmarks correctly on iOS 15.

To bookmark a page, make sure it’s open on Safari. Now, tap on the 3-dots icon on the Tab Bar at the bottom.

A menu will now appear on the screen. Scroll down on this menu and select the ‘Add Bookmark’ option on the screen.

A new ‘Add Bookmark’ popup should appear on the screen. Here, you can rename the bookmark by entering your preferred name inside the first text box at the top.

Under this, you should also be able to see the location the bookmark will be saved to. You can change this location by tapping on it and selecting your preferred Bookmark folder or creating a new one.

Once you’ve selected the location to store the bookmark, you can tap on the ‘Save’ option at the top right corner.

When you do that, the webpage you’re on will be saved as a bookmark inside Safari.

Additionally, you can also bookmark a page by tapping and holding on the Tab Bar at the bottom and selecting the ‘Add Bookmark’ option in the overflow menu.

How to Access Bookmarks you saved on Safari

If you have a lot of bookmarks saved inside Safari, you can access them by following the steps below. On iOS 14, Bookmarks were easily accessible from the Start Page as well as on any other webpage you were in. Inside the new Safari on iOS 15, you can only access your bookmarks from the Start Page and not while you’re viewing any other webpage.

To access bookmarks inside Safari, make sure you’re on the Start Page and then tap on the Bookmark icon (the one marked by a book) at the top left corner of the screen.

This will open the Bookmarks, Reading List, and History lists inside a new popup screen. To access your bookmarks, tap on the Bookmark tab (the one on the extreme left) from the top of the popup screen.

You should now be able to see your bookmark on the list inside ‘Bookmarks’ or find it inside the folder you saved it in before. Simply tap on the page you want to open and it will load inside Safari.

That’s all you need to know about adding and accessing bookmarks inside Safari on iOS 15.
