  • Some features and tweaks that Windows 10 allowed us to enjoy are no longer available on Windows 11.

  • Users are now trying to come up with ways to get the same results, even if the particular option is not a system default one.

  • The Never combine feature, which used to be accessible through the taskbar settings is not there anymore.

  • If you want to get the same results, you can use the steps we have prepared for you, and tweak your Windows 11 system.

Never combine taskbar icons Windows 11

It seems that the waters have settled a bit now, since the major backlash that Microsoft faced from users that were unhappy with many of the changes that the tech company has in mind for the new OS.

Many features or hacks that we used on Windows 10 are not going to work anymore, so there will be a period of adaptation, for those who still seek the new Windows 11 experience.

The Never combine feature in the taskbar settings, which lets us keep the windows from an app ungrouped, is no longer working on the Insider builds.

However, there are tech-savvy people that will always find a way to tweak the system to their liking, so there still is a method you can use in order to get the same results.

One experienced user that also wanted to take advantage of the old way of doing things, took it upon himself to find a way to do so.

After managing to obtain the same results, he posted his process on social media, where everyone greeted the initiative.

However, he starts this list of actions with a disclaimer for those who are also willing to try it.

To get the same results, follow these easy steps:

  1. Create Powershell and Edge shortcuts on your desktop.

  2. Install the Winaero Tweaker.

  3. Open Winaero and set the option Enable Classic Taskbar and Start menu

4. Restart the PC or Logout and enter your account again.

Apparently, after performing these first steps, the taskbar has changed, but the Windows button doesn’t work, while date, volume, and others don’t appear in the taskbar.

This can be, however, resolved with the following steps.

5. Press Windows + R and run this command:

shell:::05d7b0f4-2121-4eff-bf6b-ed3f69b894d9

6. Select the option Turn system icons on or off and enable all of the options, then press OK.

7. Open Edge and install the Classic Start menu.

8. To ungroup the buttons in the taskbar, run the PowerShell in admin mode and run this command:

REG ADD "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced " /v TaskbarGlomLevel /t REG_DWORD /d 2

9. Restart your PC.

Remember that this is not a system default option, so you might want to take that into consideration before performing these tweaks.

However, if this feature is something that you’ve grown accustomed to during Windows 10 and must have it on your Windows 11 Insider build, you can use the above-listed steps.
