Posted by   on

In this article, we explore a few troubleshooting steps to help you resolve the Xbox Console Companion server connectivity blocked error in Windows 10.

How can I fix Xbox Console Companion server connectivity blocked?

1. Check your internet connection

  1. Launch the Xbox Console Companion app.

  2. Click the menu icon and open the Settings.

  3. Open the Network tab. Wait for the network status to load.

  4. In the Internet connection section, check if the status says Connected. If it is connected, it means you have a working Internet connection.

After making sure you have a working Internet connection, next, check if the Windows Defender Firewall is enabled from the Control Panel.

2. Enable Windows Defender Firewall

  1.  Press the Windows key + R to open Run.

  2. Type control and click OK to open the Control Panel.

  3. In the Control Panel, go to System and Security.

  4. Click on Windows Defender Firewall.

  5. From the left pane, click on the Turn Windows Defender Firewall on or off option.

  6. Make sure the Turn on Windows Defender Firewall option is checked for both Private and Public network settings.

  7. Click OK to save the changes, close the Control Panel and restart your computer.

  8. After the restart, open the Command Prompt as administrator.

  9. To do this, press the Windows key, and type cmd.

  10. Right-click on Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.

  11. In the Command Prompt, type the following command and hit enter:
    netsh advfirewall show currentprofile

  12. In the Firewall Policy field, check if the BlockInbound, AllowOutbound is displayed.

  13. If the Inbound Policy is set to AllowInbound, run the following command:
netsh advfirewall set current profile firewall policy blockinbound, allowoutbound

  14. Once done, rerun the following to see if the Inbound Policy is set to BlockOutbound:
    netsh advfirewall show currentprofile

  15. Close the command prompt and launch the Xbox Console Companion app.

To be able to establish the Teredo IPsec connection, you need to enable Windows Firewall. The app also requires you to have the firewall enabled to play multiplayer games or host live parties.

This is an advanced solution, but it can help you if the Xbox Console Companion server connectivity is blocked.

3. Use a different IPv6 server

  1. Press the Windows key, and type cmd.

  2. Right-click on the Command Prompt and choose Run as Administrator.

  3. In the Command Prompt window, type the following command and hit enter to execute:
netsh int ipv6 set teredo client teredo.trex.fi

  4. Wait for the command to execute. This will change Microsoft’s IPv6 address to an alternate IP address.

Microsoft’s default IPv6 server issues can result in the connectivity blocked error in the Xbox Console Companion app. Changing the IPv6 server to Teredo Server has fixed the issue for many users.
